A long time ago, Hilo was just a little sugarcane town. There wasn’t much to do for the young; so many left the Island. Our dad, Uncle Billy, felt that we needed something to keep our family together. He decided to build a hotel so then we could all work together. That’s how Hilo Bay Hotel began.
Little did Dad know, as he played along the sea-shore, that years later he’d build a hotel on that very ground. That idea, with lots of hard work, 50 years later, and our family still operates a 150 room affordable hotel in Hilo along with our sister property in Kailua-Kona village.
We are so proud to this day that our ever growing Ohana (family) of many relatives and friends all work together to preserve the “aloha spirit” of Hawaii forever. Mom, (Leilani) has since passed on but her memory remains with us in Hilo whereas our Leilani Room was created and dedicated to her. If you are in Kona, where Dad spends most of his time, say “Aloha” to him. You can find him cruising around the hotel and shopping village or just hanging out at 92 years young.
Mahalo for visiting us in Hilo and Kona, we enjoy having you.
